Kamen Rider, Japan's original hero

Hello everyone! Today, I want to talk about one of the movies I watched recently. The movie is Shin Kamen Rider!

Shin Kamen Rider is a reboot of the Kamen Rider series created to commemorate the 90 year anniversary of the birth of the original author, Shotaro Ishinomori. The director is Hideaki Anno, who is famous for Evangelion and Shin Godzilla. It stars actor Kenichi Matsuyama.

This film takes us back to the roots of Kamen Rider and questions the role of heroes in modern society. The main character, Takeshi Hongo, is a scientist who belongs to a secret government organization and develops a modified human, a fusion of human and cyborg. However, he discovers that his research is being abused and opposes the Modified Human Project. As a result, he becomes a modder himself, fighting cyborgized terrorists and monsters.

The highlight of this movie is, after all, the design of Shin Kamen Rider. Shin Kamen Rider has a biological and frightening appearance that sets it apart from the traditional Kamen Rider. He transcends the boundaries between human and cyborg, and his transformation and fight scenes are overwhelming. There are also many elements in the film that are conscious of the history and tradition of Kamen Rider. For example, the name of the main character and the name of the motorcycle are taken from the original Kamen Rider. Enemy monsters and terrorists also resemble characters from previous Kamen Rider series.

I was moved by this movie. Shin Kamen Rider is both a Kamen Rider for a new era and a Kamen Rider true to its origins. This movie is recommended not only for Kamen Rider fans but also for general audiences. Please watch it in the theater!
