Exciting, SPY x FAMILY
Hello! Today I'd like to introduce you to my favorite comic book, SPY x FAMILY. This manga, which is serialized by Tatsuya Endo on Shonen Jump +, is a sitcom in which a spy man, a hit woman and a psychic girl form a tentative family and deepen family ties despite being involved in various troubles. It was adapted into a TV cartoon in 2022 and became very popular!
I think the appeal of this manga is, after all, the personalities and relationships of the characters. The main character, Lloyd Fauzier, is an accomplished spy in a Western intelligence agency who ends up starting a family to track the movements of the Eastern politician Desmond. He's a cool, calm, brainy professional, but he's out of touch with the family routine and sometimes messes up. Yol Fauzier, who plays his wife, is a hitman who belongs to an Eastern assassination organization and pretends to be a regular OL outside of work. She is a strong and beautiful woman, but she is not interested in love or marriage, and she is not good at housework. The daughter, Anya Fauzier, is a young girl adopted from an orphanage and a psychic who can read minds. She is a cute and energetic child, but she knows the secrets of the adults around her and uses them.
What would happen if these three were to live together? The answer is a slapstick with laughter, tears and emotion! For example, at the prestigious school Anya attended, she interacts and competes with Desmond's son and other unique students. Lloyd struggles to support Anya's grades and friendships, and dates Yol. Yol enjoys spending time with Lloyd and Anya while carrying out assassination missions. The three begin to want each other to be a real family, but face the dilemma of having to hide their identity and purpose.
SPY x FAMILY uses the extraordinary setting of spies and hitmen to portray the universal theme of family. The story development with laughter, action, and emotion, and the character shaping are amazing, and the drawings are beautiful and easy to read. Every time I read this comic, my heart warms and I get excited. You should read it too!
